The Jewish Studio Process: Chanukah Edition

Register here

Sunday, December 14

10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location: In-Person, Newton, MA

Cost: Free

As winter deepens and the nights grow longer, Chanukah invites us to kindle tiny flames and reflect on the interplay of light and shadow. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore texts from Jewish tradition alongside poetry that celebrates the generativity of darkness. Together, we’ll use the Jewish Studio Process—a unique methodology that weaves meaningful Jewish text study, creative exploration with art materials, and reflective writing—to tap into creativity as a source of resilience, connection, and wonder.

No prior art or text study experience is needed; simply bring your curiosity. We’ll create space to explore how both light and dark can inspire new ways of seeing and being, and leave with fresh sparks of inspiration for the season ahead.

Facilitated by Josh Conescu

Josh Conescu (he/him) is a Jewish Studio Project-trained facilitator who has been working in Jewish education in the Boston area for 25 years. Before teaching, Josh was an improvisational actor / theatre manager in Seattle. Josh happened onto a Jewish Studio Project intensive workshop in Berkeley in November, 2019. The experience rewired his relationship to Jewish texts, teaching and his understanding of how each of us is uniquely creative.
