The Jewish Studio Project presents Dare to Prepare 5777, a series of creative learning workshops to help us open our hearts and minds in preparation for upcoming holidays this year. Too often, the Jewish holidays catch us off guard and we are spiritually unprepared to engage in them meaningfully. This year we invite you to pause, reflect, and get inspired to make these key moments in the year transformative. Dare to Prepare provides a supportive space for creative exploration and risk taking. Scroll down to see what the upcoming holidays have in store!

What's Coming Up

Dare to Prepare Passover:  The Art of Liberation

During Passover we read the story of our ancestors' journey out of Egypt. This year, prepare yourself for this journey by opening your heart, mind and soul. We’ll dive into the the themes of Passover, reflect on how these themes are present in our own lives, and then use the power of creativity to express what lies within us. You’ll leave inspired, uplifted, and equipped with new material to share at your Passover seder!

Snacks provided. Open to all – no experience required or expected. Come as you are.

Tickets are $5 online, $10 at the door.

Join us for an evening of fantasy, intrigue, and reversal, as we Dare to Prepare for Purim!

In these topsy turvy times we need the potent power of Purim’s playful seriousness and serious playfulness more than ever.

Through Jewish teachings and hands on creative exploration, we’ll flip aspects of ourselves and our world on their heads and discover what new may be revealed. All are welcome!

Chanukah: Kindling Light in the Darkness

We are excited to bring you the fourth installment of JSP's Dare to Prepare series!

Come join a growing creative community to spiritually prepare and set intentions for Chanukah.

In this special evening of learning, community, creativity and play, we'll celebrate the miracle of light that is born out of darkness.

Together, we'll explore the darkness, and light up the night with our art, creative writing, music...and how could we forget the jelly donuts and more.

For Sukkot, JSP will be offering its Pop-Up Sukkah Studio at several locations.

Didn't know we are commanded to make art in the Sukkah?  Whether you are in the neighborhood or want to travel with us, follow the spirit of Sukkot by adding your creative energy to any of our drop-in Sukkah Studios.

JCCSF: Oct. 14th - 25th (Ongoing throughout the holiday)

Urban Adamah: Oct. 23rd, 6pm (During "Party in the Sukkah: Adults Only")

Wilderness Torah:  Oct. 20th - 23rd  ("Sukkot on the Farm") *New this year!

JSP will be running the first ever Tent of Creativity at Sukkot on the Farm. Come to this amazing festival and spend some time connecting and creating with us!

Awe has been described as a feeling in the upper reaches of pleasure and on the boundary of fear, inspired by encounters with the beautiful and the sublime. During these holy days we often try to improve ourselves through self-evaluation and judgement, but a rarely considered path to transformation is through awe itself.

Join JSP for a hands-on, multi-sensory journey exploring awe through Jewish text, images, and a variety of art materials. Together we’ll find our way to the true essence of the Days of Awe.

The High Holidays are right around the corner!  Can you HEAR them? On Rosh Hashanah, we are commanded to hear the shofar as we AWAKEN to the work of this season and to our truest selves. How might we PREPARE to listen to what is calling?

Come kick-off JSP's Dare to Prepare series, and CREATE your intentions for the New Year. We're gathering at Guava to get INSPIRED and to leverage the transformative POWER of this very special time of year. We'll journey through a hands-on, multi-sensory exploration using text, music and mixed media art tools as our vehicles for TRANSFORMATION.

ALL are welcome. No artistic background or experience necessary.

Buy your tickets NOW for only $10.  Advance Ticket Recommended.  This event is expected to Sell Out!
